would help to know the year of reg i have a series 3 registered as a late 2a there are several wiring diagrams in the haynes manual it has the codes for the wire colours but it is not easy if someone has been at it between you and the factory look to see what type of ignition set you have that will give you a clue when looking at the wiring diagram which one you should use

Also is it an ex military one with the rotary switch, or a standard off, side, headlight switch type

Any pics might be helpful

Hi Lampyrover31,

I have a Series IIa, though yet to see if I have Series III wiring. There was a fair bit of cross over at the end of Series IIa and Series III, I think you'll be on the Series III wiring.

I have the Haynes manual, and I will also be attacking my wiring soon. There's deinitely something wrong with my headlights, they appear to be wired in series...
I have a real mess of wires under the bonnet, probably due to the engine conversion that has taken place in the past.

Check under the steering wheel for the fuses, if you have four fuses in there (not counting spares), then you're on Series III wiring. Do you have fog lights and fog light switch?

Do any of your electrics actually work at the moment?
Visit this site http://www.clifton.nl/index.html?calvin.html with your VIN, and it will tell you what your Landrover is, and hopefuly if exmod...

Rob.
