New Engine.....woo hoo!!!
« on: December 19, 2006, 12:15:37 »
Finally gone for it! I found a Vit chassis on eBay with pretty much everything still attached, engine, gearbox, props, exhaust, axles, springs etc etc, got it for £180 which I think is a bargain (unless someone is going to tell me different!). All looks pretty good except for the bend in the chassis, it was rolled on the way to the MOT station.

Anyway we are going to do the engine swap in the new year is there anything we need to be aware of or is it as simple as we've been told it is? I have literally just bought an SU for the 1.3 engine can it be used on the 1.6, that seems a really stupid question but I’m sure I read that somewhere!

Also, do you think we could use what we have to do a coil conversion?
My Mum lied..............it hasn't dropped off.

have you got an adaptor plate for the gearbox?
also if your lucky if you put all bolts for the engine mounts in loose you can just about fit it in the 1300 configeration

I thought it was good. Also found out he wants to reinforce the runway of the airfield that he helps run so could get alot of work out of it too!

Pleased about the SU, although i'm sure the std 1.6 carb isn't as bad as the 1.3 one!

Was going to get the plate from Rhino Rays, think some one on here said they had just got one for 50 odd quid.
