the hand brake is a pain in the @#* so I'm thinking of moving it or changing the way it works i was thinking about moving it to the center on the seat box just to give my self some more leg room down there as any body. done the same in the past or any photo or advice

been there done that and still hurts im not a skinny im fitting rangie seats in her soon but fancy something different and moving the hand brake is a must so taking the chubby box (HA HA) out and having a rangie hand brake lever is the easy way to get the job done  8)  8)  8)  8)  8)

I've seen a pic of a Defender with the RRC handbrake fitted - and the cubby still in place..........just need to raid the breakers for a decent handbrake, drill a few holes and away we go !

No problem. I only came across it recently myself and thought it looked really smart. My 110 has Discovery seats in the front and, as they're wider than the originals, I'm not sure I have room for it in mine, unfortunately.

how about getting the x-brake.
i got one on mine, and it is a fantastic bit of kit. it converts it to being a disc rather then 2 shoes....

brilliant. dear, but worth every penny.

The X-brake is a good bit of kit, but doesn't solve the problem of the awkward handbrake position... :?

UPDATE

I've got a Range Rover hand brake lever and a full set of seats (Which was nice)

fitted the front set already with be posting that soon nice mod if i say so myself.
just got to make a frame to set the rear in and about to fit the hand brake but cant fit the cubby box as there's no room between the seats to fit the one that came with the landy shame that, it was a nice and handy might have to have it resized so i don't lose it. 8)  8)  8)  8)

One thing that you might find as an issue is compatability between the lever and the cable.

The blue noisy flying one has got a disco lever fitted as I couldn't reach the defender lever with my harness on.

It just failed it's MOT as the lever wasn't engaging properly. I eventually traced this to the end of the cable holding the pawl off the rack slightly, so have today been reprofiling the end of the cable.

All seems ok now.

Incidentally, LEG is a perfectly acceptable word to use on Mud Club
