Hi RRB my air con pump is about had it after months of making funny noises.I am trying to find out if land rover did a 3.9 with out air con.No one can seem to give me a straight answer as to wether they did a shorter belt or if there is an extra pulley to replace the air con unit. Failing that can the bearing be replaced in the clutch end of the unit?
Cheers Tim

That would be cool some pics of around the aux belt and where the air con pump should be. Cheers Tim

With the 4 belt engine it's failry straight forward, remove one belt.

I'm guessing you have a later serpentine belt engine.  The idler is different and unlike any other LR engine of the time, it runs on the grovved side of the belt and has a plastic pulley, larger in diameter then the one currently fitted.  The belt is also shorter.

I'd suggested the easiest would be to find a secong hand pump and swap it over.

I've got a V8 with non-working air-con, I've the four belt version so I just took off the belt.
